Welcome to Part 2!

In part one last week, I shared the essential pillars of High Performance; the areas that you need to focus in on to gain some clarity in order to move yourself forward.

I just got home from a two week vacation with my family. We travelled across the country to visit family in Quebec and we truly had an amazing time. I’m back and though slightly jetlagged, feeling refreshed and recharged and ready to hit the grind again.

This trip was exactly what I needed in so many ways.

We all have the same amount of time in a day. 24 hours. Yes, some of us wake up earlier and go to sleep later, allowing ourselves to have more hours in a functioning or working day. But in the end, we all have 24 hours. Are you using the time you are allowing yourself to work in productively?

Not everyone has the opportunity to work in a career that ignites them and leads them to passion daily, at that’s okay! But for those that do wish they could be in a passionate role and aren’t, but see others they know that are, bitterness can arise. And if it does, it is time to reevaluate your goals and passions and if you are choosing to take a gamble on those passions or if you are going to choose to remain in the resentment because you aren’t quite ready for the work.

Bitterness and resentment become a deep, black hole that we all can get stuck in. If we allow bitterness to, it will take over our minds and our lives! It will begin to take over the happiness that we deserve to have.

Begin by slowing the process down and listen to your feelings; pause to ask yourself some questions, reflect on your feelings, and listen to what your gut is telling you. That self-coaching truly leads you to being able to make leaps and bounds of forward motion to moving out of any bitterness.

The choice to move out of the bitter darkness is up to you; nobody can make it for you.

Feelings of overwhelm are not uncommon in the professional world, especially for entrepreneurs! But the way we choose to handle the overwhelm is most important. Like all other choices we make, creating habits for the positive choices is what is going to guide us to lasting developmental growth when the overwhelm strikes. Knowing and understanding your truth requires checking in with yourself and checking in with yourself leads to an increase in self-love. Self-love takes showing up for yourself, it takes accepting and being committed to your good and bad and the course corrections that may come.

Begin to love the process, trust the process, and enjoy the process of learning about yourself and your truth! The more you are able to jump into and learn about yourself, the stronger your self-love will grow.


And that, is a beautiful thing!

How do you feel about the word and definition of mediocrity? Do you hate living in the mediocre mindset but still haven’t been honest with yourself that that’s where you’ve been? Accountability is our biggest partner and without it, growth and advancement out of mediocrity cannot happen.

The first step to changing and removing yourself from a mediocre lifestyle is acknowledging it. If you do feel comfortable living a mediocre life, own it! And give yourself grace and peace with it.

Allow yourself the opportunity to truly evaluate where you are in your life and with your goals and be honest with how you’re feeling. Are you uncomfortable, dissatisfied, and feeling rejection and conflict--be honest with yourself with those answers and decide to grow from it and figure a way to push through them!

Effective communication takes reflection and practice so that you can learn where you are being held back in communicating, how you can change, and how you will move forward. Communication improvement requires refinement and confidence.

What is your past history with communication? Think about it and write it down. Did you come from a house of yellers? Or of passive aggressive communicators? And are you continuing in that same approach now? This will help you begin to connect the dots as to why you are the communicator you are now.


Is the way you are communicating currently leading you to the results you ultimately want? Commit to improving yourself to improve your relationships.

Working around the clock as an high-level event planner, neglecting her health with food choices of pop tarts and a box of pasta, and leaving self-care as her last thought, Kim struggled with balance and confidence for years. It started and grew from her adolescence with a challenging family dynamic and succumbing to the neglect that she believed was normal. The submissive and tentative lifestyle and beliefs in herself didn’t stop until her twenties when she began to learn how much more she deserved. She learned that she had the ability to change her mindset, health, and lifestyle and to surround herself by people of love and positivity rather than negativity.

She describes herself as a “former extreme pessimist to an obnoxious optimist.”


Kim Gorski is the CEO of the brand, Balance Over Perfect where she mentors women to find more self-love, learn how to be insanely productive, and share how health & fitness changed her life. She has worked hard to create a brand she is proud of and a system to help we women learn how to do it all, productively and without going insane!

When it comes to goal setting, I want you to stick to your gut and stick to what is burning inside--do not feel like you need to defend yourself for the goals you set! As long as they are healthy, positive, and are moving the needle forward, they are worth it and are goals to be proud of.

Along with defending certain goals you may have, do you feel like you have to defend YOURSELF to others? Explain yourself, explain your decisions, explain your motives and every move you are making? This constant defensive mindset will keep you from growing in confidence to move your life forward; it will keep you from trusting yourself and trusting that you are making the correct decisions for you and your wellbeing.

Now, there are times when we find ourselves being more defensive and short with others in various situations. I want to touch upon that this can be due at times to an internal feeling that you have that is leaving you not feeling physically or emotionally well. It could be an uneasy, icky, feeling of paranoia and if it is, there is generally a reason you are feeling it and it could come from doubt in yourself.

Growth takes forward thinking and a perspective on your previous experiences in life and where you can and need to make changes in order to move forward. Do you evaluate your previous actions? Do you think about the decisions you have made and if you are proud of them or if you wish you would have done differently? With each new advancement you make, it is important to reflect upon how you have grown through the process.

Reflections on your mindset, your relationships with loved ones, strangers, and even yourself, as well as evaluation of your priorities can help you mold a new area of growth.

When it comes to growth, I remain steadfast in sticking to my list of 5 tips. These 5 tips not only help me improve in everyday growth but when implemented correctly, they help me increase my energy, clarity, and productivity by 10x!

I want to focus this last episode of 2016 on reflection and setting yourself up for the new year rather than JUST setting resolutions.

With New Year's resolutions, we often times set goals that may be difficult to meet or we lose sight of these goals relatively quickly after setting them. Resolutions alone do not set ourselves up for long term growth. I believe resolutions are more so like bandaids to cover something that should be corrected or improved for long term success.

Most of the time, resolutions are created out of desperation and short term success. More simply, they don't work. Or last.

In this podcast episode, I dig deep into this process and how you can create new goals, habits, and lifestyle changes that last rather than dissipate because your mindset isn't necessarily determined.

What you allow will always continue. Good and bad.

Holiday season or not, setting ourselves up for success is the key to feeling productive and stress-free. Being a week from Christmas, I wanted so share a few simple steps that can be applied immediately to enable you to feel comfortable taking a step back and relaxing. 

We all have different schedules and agendas with work and with leading up to a holiday vacation; as well as when we return from the vacation! These steps can provide any person with any agenda at any time of the year relief to find more peace in stressful times. 

Improving our productivity begins with awareness, a routine and a system--and sticking to it them! In the newest episode of CHANGE by CHOICE I will elaborate on this as well as discuss the remaining productivity hacks.

Finding the "sweet spot" in our growth, learning, and journey takes trusting the process. And within the process, takes multiple struggles. They aren't comfortable and sometimes they bring doubt but working through the struggle as we continue to trust the process makes all of the hard work WORTH IT.

Anger is an emotional that holds many people back. Brendon Burchard says, “Anger is either worry or hurt most of the time.” It takes a shift in perspective and for us to put ourselves in another’s shoes to try to understand where their anger comes from. By understanding the anger, we can take a step back from it and evaluate it from an angle that will keep us from being caught up in the emotions. When we get caught up in the emotions, we become defensive and shameful.
